In the August 31 episode of Chhoti Bahu aired on Zee TV, mehendi ceremony of Kanika and Abhay is held.

Unable to control themselves, Dev and Radhika get close in full view of everyone present. Their act leaves Kanika and Mata Ramji fuming. Dev leaves Radhika once he realizes his mistake. Dadi, however, comments it is very difficult to separate Dev and Radhika.

Radhika is very excited when Dev comes to her room. Seeing him worried, Radhika asks for the reason. Dev explains he can not understand his failure to keep himself away from her. Radhika reveals that Lord Krishna was doing as it is the truth.

Dev reveals that for him the only truth was the fact that he is married to Kanika.

Radhika asks Dev if he loved her. Dev reveals that if he had not been married to Kanika, he would have easily given the answer.

Mata Ramji decides to leave the house. When Dev asks for the reason, Mata Ramji says she can not silently watch on even as he continued destroy her daughter's life. At Mata Ramji's insistence, Abhay gives her in writing that he would marry Kanika. However, Mata Ramji insists on him writing his name as Dev Rajpurohit.

Rajjan adds fuel to the fire and instigates Mata Ramji saying that Dev has crossed all his limits by touching Radhika's haldi as shagun. However, Mata Ramji shuts him up asking him to channelize energy in constructive thoughts in the Aug 30 episode of Chotti Bahu - Sindoor Bin Suhagan on Zee TV.

When Dev arrives, Mata Ramji gets angry at him for his act. Dev apologizes that he unknowingly touched the bowl. He assures Mata Ramji that though he may have unintentionally accepted Radhika's shagun, he is sure to marry Kanika on the scheduled day.

Kanika nurses the wounds caused by the red chilly powder in her haldi. She cries out in pain and says that the heavens are conspiring to unite Dev and Abhay and that she is losing all hope. Mata Ramji gets angry at her and asks her to shut up.

Meanwhile, preparations begin for the mehendi ceremony. Dadi gifts Radhika new sarees and jewellery for the marriage. Radhika is overjoyed with the love showered on her.

Mata Ramji invites a group of women for the ceremony. Rajjan's wife Vibha too arrives for the marriage celebrations.

Mata Ramji applies shagun ka tikka to Dev. Rajjan sees all the importance being given to Dev and rubs his palms with jealously. In his heart he wants to go and kill Dev but knows that he is helpless because of Mata Ramji. The women applying mehendi ask Kanika the name of her husband. She says it is Abhay Singh Thakur. The women applying Radhika the mehendi ask her the name too. Radhika looks at Dev and blushes.
