Zee TV's historical drama Jhansi Ki Rani is on a winning spree when it comes to television awards this year! At the prestigious Boroplus Gold Awards, the show has swept away awards across categories including Best Screenplay writing, Best Art Direction (Fiction), Best Editing and young Ulka Gupta walked away with the Best Actress trophy. As if this wasn't enough, the show dazzled across a slew of award categories at the 9th Indian Telly Awards quick on the heels of Gold Awards. Here, the show clinched the Best Stylist award for recreating the magic of the queen's rich costumes and jewellery, Best Art Direction (again!), Best Videography (Fiction) and the Best Show - Critic's choice.
Nitin Vaidya, COO ZEEL & Business Head Zee TV said, "We are extremely pleased to note that Jhansi Ki Rani has worked so well as a show. In times when the idea of historical shows was discouraged, Zee TV took the initiative to make a difference with Jhansi Ki Rani. It is heartening to know that our conviction in the concept of the show has borne fruit."
Jhansi Ki Rani, as a show, has had several factors going for it through its 226 episodes so far! Sharp-featured and strong Ulka Gupta impressed viewers as the young Jhansi Ki Rani, the girl child destined to become India's epitome of strength and bravery. The entry of actress Kratika Sengar as the grown up Manu post the leap into Rani Lakshmi Bai's adulthood has only added verve and vibrancy to the show. The Rani has fast become a role model for scores of young women across the country, inspiring them to get bolder, stand up for themselves and fight injustice. Add to that the meticulous research that has gone into recreating an era bygone, the historical authenticity retained by the plot of the show, the apt casting of all characters, the sheer opulence of the sets coupled with superlative production values and you have a riveting show that families across the country are completely hooked onto!
